Assistance with Job Opportunity – Mark’s Story
We had a request from a worried mother about helping her son Mark (name changed for Privacy reasons) to get a job so that he can support the family. Since Mark father was battling with cancer; for medical expenses his mother had mortgaged everything they had, even the small house that they were living in. Mark was almost un-employable as he was a school dropout and was finding it difficult to get work. As she was a teacher and her merge salary could not support the family expenses and loan repayment, they were on the verge of losing their house in Kerala. With tears running down her cheeks, Mark’s mother approached Shalom Charity to help her son find work in UAE. We were able to immediately arrange visa and ticket for Mark so he can work in UAE to pay off his debts. He worked in UAE for about 4 years, paid off all his debts, paid for his sister’s marriage, he got married and finally resigned and decided to do full time Ministry with his family and thus went to study Theology. Today his life is secure; he is a responsible person and a caring child to his parents.
At Shalom Charity, we are happy that as our tag line states (Touching Lives & Changing Destiny), we were able to touch his life and change his destiny.
Assistance with Engineering College Fees – Peter’s Story
Few years back, we had a request from a mother who was working as a Maid inorder to support for her children’s education. This family had lost everything that they had including a business, her house and every other asset that they had because of the father’s drinking habits. It came to a point where the mother could not pay for her son Peter’s (name changed for Privacy reasons) fees and as a result he was not allowed to write his exam nor enter his class. He was studying for Aerospace engineering in Bangalore and his yearly fees was Rs 95,000/- and the poor mother did not even have Rs 100/- with her. Since she did not have any relatives or friends to support her, Shalom Charity after doing the necessary verification, contacted the college and paid the fees in full for that year.
Today we understand that he finally graduated from his course and he is doing well. Again we were able to respond to the cries of a mother who was in desperate need.
